“ I feel happy returning to work when I know I am leaving my child at a nursery where they are happy and thriving ”

The Early Years Foundation Stage is the curriculum for all nurseries and pre-schools registered with Ofsted.

This curriculum not only sets the educational criteria for the learning and development of babies and children up to the age of five years but also shapes the high standards of practice. Its central aim is to help young people achieve the ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes:

Being healthy

Enjoying and achieving

Making positive contributions

Staying safe

Achieving economic well-being

Here at Cranbrook Independent Nursery & Pre-School we aim to exceed the minimum National Standards set by Ofsted to ensure that we provide the highest quality care and education in early years.

Some quotes taken from recent OFSTED inspections:

Parents are very complimentary about the nursery and how well and quickly their children settle. They report that children 'cannot wait to get to nursery'. Discussions with parents reveal that they are extremely happy with the nursery provision."
Staff eat lunch with the children and use this as a wonderful opportunity to talk about food and have conversations with children. At meal times children manipulate tongs and pour their own drinks, demonstrating their developing control and co-ordination, as they make healthy choices from the nutritious fruits and vegetables on offer."
Children are active in their outdoor play as they use a good range of equipment, such as hoops, balls and climbing and balancing equipment, which develop their physical skills well."
Children's understanding of diversity and difference is further enhanced as they celebrate festivals and special events from around the world. "
Children are highly motivated and show great enthusiasm as they play and learn."
Children find the equipment they require and make independent choices from the wide selection available. "
Teaching is good too because children are given time to work at their own pace and complete activities to their own level of understanding."
Staff know children well and use this knowledge to plan appropriate, interesting and fun activities for all children."
Staff give transfers into and out of the nursery the highest priority because they recognise their importance in children's development. "
Children arrive with great enthusiasm and show confidence as they place their personal belongings on their assigned pegs. "
